A Day In the Life of Al and al

A Mother Daughter Lifestyle Blog

My Favorite Mother’s Day Gift

With Mother’s Day coming up, I wanted to share my favorite gifts and memories.  As a single mom, I don’t have someone planning anything “special” for me per se, which I’m totally fine with. If there’s something I want to do, I’ll plan it myself or with Alexa.  It’s all good.

Honestly, I don’t need a lot of hoopla around Mother’s Day or my birthday. My favorite recognition is a love letter or two from my favorite person in the whole wide world…the reason for the holiday, my daughter!  When she was little she used to write me love letters all the time and I adored them. I still have them and have a few posted on the refrigerator. As she’s gotten older, I don’t get them anymore (although I do get love texts) and I hint at wanting a love letter for my special occasions. Alexa is so funny.  She came into my office last week and instructed me not to look through her desk drawers which is odd because I rarely do, but when I asked why, she said just don’t, there’s a surprise for me.  She’s obviously not very good at surprises yet, but it’s cute that she tries and I will be good and not look in her drawers.

Here’s a few of my faves over the years…

Mother’s Day 2012 (Alexa was 6 years old)

Mother’s Day 2013 (Alexa was 7 years old)

Alexa made me a bead necklace and she wrapped it up in a box all by herself…how cute are her crooked teeth?

Mother’s Day 2014 (Alexa was 8 years old)

I still have these hanging in my office…

My Mom and I like to…watch TV and moves together (note the Dancing with the Stars on TV…still applicable!)

Fun Facts About My Mom

  1. She knows how to play more games than I do (LOL!).
  2. Her birthday is exactly on Halloween (this is true).
  3. Her favorite color is orange (also true).

Mother’s Day 2016 (Alexa was 10 years old)

Alexa made homemade sugar scrub at school (forgot to take a picture of it).  My fave part is still the packaging and the cards.

We went to church at Abundant Life and took a picture in the lobby where they had this cute vignette set up for photos.

I’m looking forward to receiving my surprise on Sunday. Hope you get showered with love this Mother’s Day as well. Enjoy!!
