How to Create the Perfect Gymnastics Competition Hair Bun

After 5 years of gymnastics competitions, we have perfected how to create the perfect gymnastics competition hair bun.

We’re able to create it quickly and easily and without any exposed ugly pins which is my ultimate pet peeve. I mean, how distracting! And, you don’t have to do crazy things like sew a ribbon into the hair to keep it in place.  Our friends from another gym were taught how to do that…it was the craziest thing I’d ever seen and it’s absolutely unnecessary.

What you will need to create the perfect gymnastics bun:

• spray water bottle
• mousse of your choice
• got2b glued gel
• hairspray
• fine tooth comb
• hair brush (we prefer the wet brush)
• small elastic hair ties (clear or black)
• large hair ties (Alexa uses 3 at once)
• bobby pins (black or blonde)

To create the PERFECT Gymnastics Competition hair bun, follow these Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1:  Use Spray Bottle to Wet Hair

Step 2:  Apply Mousse to Make the Hair Tackier

Step 3:  Brush Hair into a nice high pony; smooth hair with fine tooth comb

Step 4:  Split pony tail into two and braid each side

Step 5:  Apply even coat of got2b glued to tame flyaways and baby hairs

Step 6:  Wrap each braid around the pony tail and pin in place with bobby pins

Step 7:  Apply one more coat of got2bglued

Step 8:  Wrap scrunchie around the base of the bun and add any additional adornaments required

Step 9:  Spray with hairspray for a finishing touch

And that’s it! The results speak for itself.  There is no excuse not to look completely pulled together for every single meet.
